Individual Health Insurance Rates

There are a number of factors that go into the price of an Individual Health Insurance Policy. These may include:
Location – Some states are simply healthier places to live than others. Factors include environment, lifestyle, food habits, industries, and regulations.

Age – People go through different stages in life and their needs are reflected in the Individual Health Insurance rates. In general young adults will require less health care than older people. One exception is young women with the chance of pregnancy. Some Individual Health Insurance plans will exclude pregnancy either permanently or for a certain period of time.

Health – Obviously your health will lay a big role in the cost of an Individual Health Insurance policy. A history of illness or a chronic illness makes it more costly. In some cases even family history will play a part in your rates. As medical science emerges there are now even questions of genetics coming into play. New laws are being enacted continually so be aware of the laws in your state.

Habits – As time goes by it’s becoming increasingly clear that lifestyle plays a major role n health. Smoking, overeating, and bad habits may be explored in your personal lifestyle and could influence the cost of your Individual Health Insurance rates.

Policy Limits – Most Individual Health Insurance plans will eventually hit a dollar limit. At that point the insurance company may stop paying claims. The extent of these limits will also be a factor in your rates.
